Well, I realize I'm 3wks past due updating here but as you can imagine, baby needing to eat every 2-3hrs means Mommy & Daddy are seriously sleep deprived! My labor went really, really well compared to most horror stories I've heard & read about. My water broke early Friday morning, August 1st. The Doctor needed to start me on Petocin to speed up the contractions & prevent any infections. I started getting mild contractions around 1/1:30pm but the real painful ones started around 3pm. At that point, I was already dialated to 4cm & by 4pm, I was at 6cm. My body was working fast! With the help of a fabulous nurse, I was able to make it through without an ephidural!! By 5pm I started pushing & at 5:47pm, little Grace Kay Ticknor arrived into this world. Looking back, I am very grateful that my body was already doing a lot of work with minimul pain. I loved being pregnant & had a decent, although still painful, labor & delivery. It's when Gracie was brought home that the real terror began!
The 1st couple nights we didn't sleep at all. Gracie just cried & cried & as new parents, we were also extremely paranoid when she was too quiet as well. By the 4th day, my breastmilk came in & things were looking up. Gracie would sleep better. We are still trying to establish a routine. We did pretty good last week keeping her fed every 2.5-3hrs but yesterday it seemed she was hungry every 2hrs. Just when you think you have it mastered, you realize you don't! She sleeps best in her carseat :)
